TOI CORRESPONDENT FROM LONDON: During an emergency debate in parliament on foreign interference by the Indian government in Canada, Canadian NDP MPs have called for sanctions against India, the designation of the RSS as a terrorist organization in Canada, the expulsion of BJP officials who have called for the ban of genocidal and racist violence, the cessation of information sharing, and the prohibition of the sale of Canadian weapons.

When it comes to gathering intelligence abroad and preventing foreign diplomats from conducting the same operations on Canadian soil, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized Canada’s double standards.
S Jaishankar, Canada’s minister of external affairs, criticized the Western country’s duplicity on Monday, claiming that the license it grants its diplomats and how it handles foreign diplomats on its territory are completely different.

Following Ottawa’s demand that India remove its High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma’s diplomatic cover after he was identified as a “person of interest” in the murder investigation of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Jaishankar discussed the ongoing dispute with Canada. Both sides expelled diplomats as a result of Canada’s action, which intensified the dispute.

In a forceful response to the Canadian government’s accusations, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said that although the Trudeau administration is blaming India by bringing up Lawrence Bishnoi, it has been forgiving of those who have committed crimes connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Canadian government has received 26 petitions for extradition from India, but nothing has been done. In addition, Canada has not taken action in 29 cases when India had appealed that wanted criminals should have been apprehended.
